THE VILLA
Twenty two masks carved from local pietra serena stone, some classical and some
grotesque, decorate the facade of Villa Le Maschere, one of the most beautiful
late Renaissance country homes in Tuscany. Pleasantly situated in the hills of
the Mugello near the Bilancino Lake, Villa Le Maschere was the subject of a 5
year-long restoration and has been reborn as a 5-star resort. Le Maschere is a
place of great historical and architectural value, but with its special emphasis
on contemporary interior design it is also a superb expression of the world-famous
‘Made in Italy’.
Past and present, tradition and innovation, characterise the villa’s strong personality.
Perrywinkle-violet coloured fittings, a colour much loved by the lords and ladies
of the eighteenth century, venetian style floors, glass and gold leaf tiles, stone
pastes of coloured cement and majolica inspired by the early twentieth century,
all fuse harmoniously in the Villa’s contemporary interiors.
